How to Use It

Planting your Heritage Native Seed Mix is a straightforward process:

1. Prepare the Soil: Till the soil to a depth of four to six inches. Level and roll the soil with a lawn roller, eliminating any low spots.
2. Sow the Seed: Sow the seed at a rate of one pound per 200 square feet. To ensure even distribution, sow in two directions, using half the seed each time in a cross pattern. Broadcast 8-32-16 fertilizer at a rate of twenty pounds per 1000 square feet. After 45 days, reapply the same amount of fertilizer.
3. Rake and Water: Lightly rake the soil in a bowing motion to incorporate the seed and fertilizer into the top half-inch of soil. Be cautious not to scalp any areas. Immediately water lightly to set the seed and fertilizer in place.
4. Maintenance: Keep the seed bed moist until germination is complete. Once the grass is established, transition to heavier but less frequent watering. In the second season, switch to 16-16-16 fertilizer at a rate of 10 pounds per 1,000 square feet, applying it twice per season.
